$1M Worth of Food Coupons and Moon Cakes from CGCC
“We Care, We Share Campaign” to Grassroots

To share the joy of the 60th National Day with the grassroots and the disadvantaged, the “We Care, We Share Campaign” of the CGCC launched two programs worth HK$1 million in total in its second round of action. The programs included the distribution of 13,000 food coupons worth nearly HK$400,000 and 10,000 boxes of moon cakes worth some HK$600,000 before the National Day holidays.。

Food Coupons Shows Business Community’s Care

Yesterday (22nd) CGCC held a press conference where its Chairman Jonathan Choi gave an account of the details. The food coupons in the programs included 10,000 vouchers for “two roast meats combination with rice” from Paramount Catering Group and Hsin Kuang Restaurant, and 3,000 vouchers for beef bowl from Yoshinoya.

A food coupon presentation ceremony was held during the press conference. CGCC Chairman Jonathan Choi, Vice-chairmen Cheung Sing-hung, Ian Chan and William Lee, together with Paramount Catering Group Chairman cum Hsin Kuang Restaurant Holdings Governing Director & General Manager Li Kwok-hung, handed over the food coupons to the Social Welfare Department (SWD) Assistant Director Mak Chow Suk-har. Chairman Choi thanked all the “Caring Enterprises” for their great support, as well as the SWD for its assistance and cooperation in the entire program.

Chairman Choi also revealed that the “We Care, We Share Campaign” would visit community centers and distribute 10,000 boxes of moon cakes, worth about HK$600,000, on the eve of the Mid-Autumn Festival for bringing festive joy to needy families and the elderly.

Appeal for Continued Support

Jonathan Choi briefly described the ideas for launching the “We Care, We Share Campaign”. After taking office last November, the new CGCC Committee Members were concerned about the impact of the financial crisis on the economy of Hong Kong and the livelihood of its people, especially the grassroots and the disadvantaged groups who would need more help. With the support from seven pioneering member enterprises, the CGCC launched the “We Care, We Share Campaign” and distributed the first batch of 10,000 food coupons to needy families before the Reunification Anniversary holiday. At the same time, CGCC donated HK$100,000 to the SWD Emergency Relief Fund, which provides instant financial assistance for families of victims in major incidents.

Chairman Choi stressed that the “We Care, We Share Campaign” is an ongoing social welfare project. Going forward, it will roll out more initiatives and programs to drive the business community’s care for society and promote social harmony. Business enterprises are encouraged to join the rank of “Caring Enterprises”, so that they can spread their love and express the business community’s concern for society by concrete actions that help the grassroots and the disadvantaged.

Among the guests in the conference were the SWD Senior Social Work Officer Alice Ding and many CGCC Standing Committee Members and Committee Members.
